Welfare
We have a Welfare Officer at the Henderson RSA to assist members with all sorts of issues. This may be to assist with funeral arrangements, transporting members to and from appointments or visiting members in hospital.
Welfare or assistance is available to any needy member and help is given based on need. We have a mobility scooter which is loaned out, and other products are available such as hearing aid batteries.
Many of our members or members in the community are eligible for war pensions but not aware that they are. If you or a family member thinks they may be eligible but are not getting one please call our Welfare Officer and he will be able to advise you.
West Auckland Area Returned and Services Ass. Homes for the Elderly Trust.
The above trust administers a total of 48 units in West Auckland.
A Trust Deed was established in 1974 which provided for the tustees to administer funds for the provision of accommodation for the elderly or others who by reason of financial circumstances, sickness or other good and charitable reason are in need of accommodation.
Funding for these units has come in by way of contributions from all West Auck RSA's, the RNZAF, WO and NCO Mess base at Whenuapai as well as bequeaths and donations.
Women's Section of the Henderson RSA
The Henderson RSA is very fortunate to have a very strong Women's Section which is run by an elected committee with Margaret Sorenson at the Helm as President.
The Women's Section do a lot of good work within the club such as visiting sick people, catering for funerals and offering support to the members.
They meet twice a month once in the evening and once for morning tea, if you would like to become a member of the Women's Section you are more than welcome to come along to one of the meetings or call the office for more details.
